Mr. W. Gerald Bland

SAVANNAH - Mr. W. Gerald Bland, 83, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Hospice Savannah.
He was born in Long County, GA and lived in Marietta, GA for 15 years before moving to Savannah 23 years ago. He was a member of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church in Marietta, GA. Before getting sick, his last employment was with Testmaster of Savannah, GA as a Service Manager. Prior to working with Testmaster, he owned his own business, Coastal Engine Company. He served as a U.S. veteran on the front lines of Korea for four years as a Sergeant and was responsible for his own platoon.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Faye N. Bland; daughter, Cathy F. Green; and brother, Cameron Bland. He is survived by his son, Jerry Bland Wanda of Dallas, GA; daughter, Debbie Kennedy Pete of Register, GA; sisters, Carolyn Worrill Frederick of Florida and Gloria Hough Stan of Utah; brothers, Ernie Bland Vicki of Savannah, GA, Edward Bland Kaye of Savannah, GA, and Wayne Bland of Dallas, GA; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandsons who will be born in November; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with Pastor Robert Peacock of Southwest Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
